The main application areas of chemical catalysts in my country are petrochemicals, coal chemicals and oil chemicals. Among them, catalysts in the petrochemical field have the widest application scenarios, covering fine chemical products and polymer synthesis. The demand accounts for 70% of the total demand for chemical catalysts. The second is the coal chemical industry, with demand for chemical catalysts accounting for about 15% of the total demand, and demand for oleochemical catalysts accounting for about 5% of the total demand.

Driven by the demand for clean fuels and the promotion of new technologies, especially nanotechnology, the global refining catalyst market is growing rapidly. By 2020, global oil supply will reach 9.5 million barrels/d, of which conventional oil will still account for the majority of oil supply. Effective use of catalysts to extract relatively more diesel and gasoline from the same amount of crude oil will help manufacturers better meet the growing demand for energy.

The application areas of catalysts and catalytic technology have tended towards the following situation: traditional petrochemical technology has basically matured, but new catalysts and new processes are needed to meet increasingly stringent environmental protection requirements; natural gas chemical industry and coal chemical industry cannot compete with petrochemical industry economically, and the catalytic technologies involved have great similarities; fine chemical catalytic technology mainly used for the synthesis of high value-added chemicals and pharmaceutical intermediates is relatively scattered and slow in development, and is currently being strengthened; catalytic technology for the purpose of environmental governance and protection has received widespread attention.

According to the current national and state oil demand, oil refining technology will become the core of future energy utilization. Based on the irreplaceable nature of oil resources, the use of hydrogenation catalysts and technical research is a way to maximize corporate profits. Hydrocatalytic cracking, as a catalytic method that can reduce the saturation of reaction products and increase the activity of elements, is currently being discovered and put into practical application. This method of improving resource utilization and reducing pollution is also in line with my country's environmental protection concept of sustainable development and has immeasurable development prospects.
